Ghost Adventures is a new series on the Travel Channel featuring the team of Zak Bagans, Nick Groff, and equipment technician Aaron Goodwin. This show is written and researched by Jeff Belanger.

I think we have reached the pinnacle here. I’m not sure how paranormal television can get much scarier than this program showing three young men having themselves locked in for the night at famously haunted locations. They enter at dusk and leave at dawn with no camera crew. Simply and dangerously on their own. Zak taunts the ghostly inhabitants for maximum effect.

The show premiered October 17th and there have been two episodes so far. The first was at Bobby Mackey’s in Wilder, Kentucky which has a sign that warns patrons that the place is haunted. Bobby Mackey’s is a country and western bar that was a slaughterhouse at one time. There is a well on the premises that was the scene of satanic worship and sacrifice that is referred to as Hell’s Gate. A young girlĀ  named Pearl was murdered and beheaded and the killers were tracked to the well where her head was deposited. Also on the premises a girl named Johanna committed suicide after her lover was killed. In recent history a maintenance worker named Carl became possessed and required six hours of exorcism. Zak was attacked by malevolent forces on this episode and had long scratches on his back. At the end of the episode he consults with Bishop James Long, ArchBishop at St. Christopher’s Old Catholic Church, who has performed many exorcisms across the country. Bishop James gives his warning that Zak is playing with fire.

The second episode takes the team to Houghton Mansion in North Adams, Massachussetts. The home is haunted by the Houghton family plus their driver. An automobile accident claimed the life of A.C. Houghton’s daughter Mary and the driver shot himself due to remorse. Ten days later A.C. Houghton himself dies. There is also the spirit of a little girl in the basement. To make things creepier the house is now a Masonic Temple that has an electric chair and a bed of nails on the premises. The house is possibly cursed as it has a stone wall on the property that came from a mine where 200 men lost their lives.

I would say this is the edgiest paranormal show on television. I don’t know if anyone could possibly top this or if anyone should attempt to try.

This show is really awesome. These guys really get some good evidence. I personally would not do what they do. LOL I would be too scared!

  2. They are absolutely insane or immensely brave… probably both. I wouldn’t do what they do either. No lock-ins for me! With all that having been said, I never miss an episode. These guys are the hottest new paranormal TV show without a doubt.

They will be on my radio show January 6th with Bobby Mackey. Don’t forget to be in the chat room for that one :)
