How to Use a Ghost Box
HOW TO DO A GHOST BOX SESSION

In this article I will explain from my experience the best way to perform a ghost box session. The task of doing a box session is as simple as it is complicated. A box session is simple in the fact that it is basically turning on one of the many models of ghost box be it a Frank’s box, Joe’s box, RS hacks, Mini box or the EVP maker phoneme method. All will deliver to one extent or another Real Time Spirit Communication or RTSC as we call it.
What makes a ghost box session complicated? Let me just say without going into particular details, a ghost box sessions success or failure depends on many influential factors that play a part in the reception of communication from the spirit world.
That being said this article is meant to give a basic explanation on how to conduct a successful ghost box session.
First and foremost make sure you are in the correct frame of mind to do a box session, by this I mean simply, positive attitude, positive session. Negative attitude, negative session. So if you had a bad day at the office or the kids are getting on your nerves leave the session for another time.
OK let’s assume that you are in a great mood there are a few basic steps to follow before starting your actual session. There is a very real concern of attracting negative entities and negative energy while involved in a box session. If you observe this concern you can say a protection prayer and actually ask any of your spirit contacts to help to block any negative entities or communication that may try to come through the box during the open session.
Once you have dealt with the possibility of the negative aspect it’s time to attend to the other preliminary tasks such as making sure you have fully charged batteries, your incoming signal strength depends on the power that is supplied to the box.
Now speak out loud to your spirit contacts and inform them that you are about to do a box session and give them a heads up about the subject matter of your session.
Next make sure you have your recorder and it is set to go. Turn your recorder on and state your name the time, date and subject of the session.
Pause your recorder. Turn on your ghost box and allow it to run for a few seconds and make sure you have the best reception possible, if not move around the room or the area until you establish a good signal. When you are satisfied with your signal, have done your protection ritual if wanted and have made sure your equipment is set to go you are now ready to do the actual session.
OK here we go!
Take your recorder off of pause, be polite say Hi and ask if there are any spirits that would like to communicate with you..
After your initial greeting ask whatever questions you have and or make any statement you want too. Then allow a reasonable amount of time for a response, I will usually give approximately ten seconds. During the response time listen carefully for any answers or messages that you can hear in real time as they occur. That is the main objective when we do ghost box research or RTSC, the key words in RTSC are “REAL TIME” that is what sets this research apart from any other form of EVP or ITC.
If you do hear an answer or statement you believe to be communication it is a good idea to repeat what you heard for validation that you did actually hear the communication, this will later serve as a validation of the communication when made into an audio file for review by others..
Be extremely aware of any vulgarity or curse words as these serve as a strong indication that what we are receiving is in fact communication and not just radio signal due to the fact that it is very unlikely that you will hear these sorts of swear words on publicly broadcast radio.
Also be aware of your name or that of others in the room during the session and of course relevant and pertinent answers to any questions you have asked.
The session will continue in this manner as long as you wish, I have found that our friends on the other side will in a certain amount of time “Run Out Of Steam” as it where. They seem to exhaust their energy supply and therefore communication will decrease and eventually cease as a result.
I like to keep my session to no more than 10 minutes for two reasons. One, it allows the communicating spirit time to deliver their communication without exhausting the energy supply and being cut off midstream and it aids in keeping the subsequent review and editing of the session to a reasonable time frame.
As with the preliminary steps before starting a session there are a couple of good rules to follow as you end your session.
When you are bringing the session to a close the first thing to do is to alert the communicating spirits that you intend to end the session or else it is like hanging up a telephone with no warning to the person on the other end of the line, very disrespectful !
Next, and this is a very good habit to form! Ask that any and all spirits that may have traveled to your side from the spirit world please return or they may be stranded after the box is turned off. We have come to believe that during a box session a doorway or portal is established between our side and the spirit world due to the live connection and stream of mutual energy the box facilitates and that it is possible for spirits to utilize this “doorway” to pass from their side to ours and back.
When you request that any wayward spirits be returned to the spirit world, ask for verbal conformation that it is clear to shut down the session and turn the box off.
Ask as many times as is necessary for you to hear some kind of understandable response, logically if you were to wait for review of the recording to find the conformation it would be too late. And you may have a stranded spirit on your hands!
After you are sure about your confirmation and you feel it Is safe to turn the box off, thank your spirit friends for any and all communication and the effort the put forth to send that communication. Say goodbye or goodnight and allow a ten second final response time and then turn off the box.
You have just successfully completed a ghost box session and hopefully you received good communication both heard in real time and recorded.
The only task left to perform is to load your session recording into your computer review and edit it and save your individual communication files for future research purpouses and validation of communication.

Very great article. This seems is very informative, and it seems its becoming a more popular way to communicate with spirits! We use one, and we take caution, and also use it wisely.

I made a radio shack version of Franks box and was using it in my room for about 2 weeks also took it tio several hauntyed locations and now I have all kinds of voices in my room. Im recording singing, kids, talking between people it sounds like a wind tunnel with an electrical storm in my corner and I get responses even when im not talking to them. I hear noises so I grab my camera and start taping and the voices have said the word six several times unsolicited and when im on the phone they comment like they said someone was dead in water and they were. Told me not to send my daughter to school and she was sent home almost suspended that day. I have alot of the phenomenon on tape. I have asked them to leave. Tried prayer for days. Ignoring it. The exsorsist prayer ect. I have religious stuff everywhere and Im not sleeping a wink. Any suggestions on how to close these portals or get rid of the things?

Sorry about the wait on this reply. Sigh. Your problem sounds severe. There is a protocol to follow with the box use about being careful to ask the spirits to go back to the other side and waiting for a response saying that they all have gone back safely before shutting down the box. These types of devices are not just listening mechanisms… they open a portal of sorts where the spirits can enter the space around the radio.
Having said all that it is imperative now that you address your current troubles. I can’t say for sure if this will work perfectly for you but it is what I would do…
Step 1. Say some prayers and ask the Holy Spirit to fill your home with Grace. Request the protection of Saint Michael the Archangel.
Step 2. Tell the universe your intention to send the spirits in your home back where they came from.
Step 3. Turn on the box and speak to it of your situation asking if there are any guides there who would help you.
Step 4. Pray for all the souls involved…
Step 5. Firmly command all the spirits in your home to leave your space as they are not welcome to stay any longer.
Step 6. Ask your guides if the spirits have gone back to the other side and wait for a yes answer before turning off the box.
Step 7. If this doesn’t work contact me again and I will consult with Bishop James Long.
